Pozzacchio Fort

The Pozzacchio Fort is an Austro-Hungarian military fort, located on the slopes of Mount Pasubio. The fort belongs to the “Barrier Adige-Vallarsa” of the “Subrayon III” of the great system of Austrian fortifications on the Italian border. The fort is housed internally in a rocky promontory south-east of the village of Pozzacchio. It had to be a work of considerable military intelligence that nevertheless was never completed. The fort is spread over three levels connected by reinforced concrete stairs. Inside there was also a complex system of canals and tanks that allowed rainwater collection. It can be reached by the military road that starts from the village of Pozzacchio in Trambileno or from a mule track that goes up from the village of Valmorbia in Vallarsa.
